Support. acts: 20:00 – 5 euro entry. Palalalaka is a 5-piece band, founded by the van Vliet brothers. They grew up in the Dutch forests where they brewed a rather interesting concoction. The recipe of this concoction comes from the Irish wizard student Palalalaka. In stead of drinking a little bit, which would have been sufficient, the brothers fell into the big barrel of potion. This resulted in creating the EP ‘Go and feed the rabbits’ (2006) and the album ‘The invention of breakfast’ (2009). After ‘The invention’ the Sea Beggars Willm van Berkel, Bazar and David de Vries joined them. Several centuries after they captured the town of Den Briel they suddenly caught the smell of the potion, whereupon they hiked towards the forests. The music of Palalalaka can best be discribed as a mixture of ‘música impresionante’ and Krank-noir. Soit. Amsterdam based formation John Carrie and Moor Green have started 2010 flying with the release of their second studio album Clearing Air. The follow up to their well received 2006 release ‘Folk is not Happy’ experiments with new sounds, instruments and musical styles while bkeeping it close to it’s acoustic roots with a few solo ballads. Recorded and mixed with Remko Schouten (Pavement , Devendra Banhart) at Ijland studios in Amsterdam. Layered guitars and a sweet succulent voice pull you in and spit you out – gently. Indie foursome Space Siren is moody without being too heavy, and catchy without being too poppy. Aansluitend DJ roy www.myspace.com/palalalaka |
